Sperry is not ranked in the 2025 On3 Industry Ranking. He is 6-foot-1 and weighs 190 pounds.
The 6-foot-1, 190-pound signal-caller is the first member of the Sooners’ 2025 recruiting class. He has made three visits to Norman, most recently on Nov. 19.
“I respect coach (Jeff) Lebby a lot,” Sperry recently told On3’s Chad Simmons. “He doesn’t offer quarterbacks right away, so to get a strong evaluation from him and then the offer, that was big. He has only offered two quarterbacks in my class, so this means a lot to me, my family and all the people that have helped me get here.”
Sperry also shared with Simmons he is returning to Oklahoma on March 23. The Sooners’ coaching staff has greatly impressed him.
“The people really stand out to me and the people in the program are strong,” Sperry said. “The program called S.O.U.L. Mission helps the players become good people. Coach Brent Venables is about his players and making them great people, not just great football players. People are what it’s about at Oklahoma.
“Coach Venables is an intense guy that goes hard and I love that because I love coaches that have that intensity. Coach Lebby runs a great offense and we have a great relationship. I feel comfortable around those guys.”

The booming North Texas town of Prosper is well on its way to becoming a pediatric health care hub, with the grand opening of the Children’s Health Specialty Center Prosper adding to the area’s medical options for children and adolescents.
Located on a 72-acre parcel of land at the Dallas North Tollway and U.S. Highway 380, Children’s Health’s new three-story medical facility joins a group of other hospitals and outpatient facilities staking claim in Prosper. Fort Worth-based Cook Children’s hosted a ribbon cutting ceremony for its own medical center in November.
The grandeur of Thursday’s event — which will feature a ribbon cutting; performances from local high school drumlines, cheerleaders and dance teams; and remarks from the Prosper mayor — fits the fanfare that has surrounded the competition between health care industry giants to establish themselves in the rapidly growing area north of Dallas.
“The biggest thing is that this is just the beginning. The Children’s Health facility is set on almost 75 acres, so the development is going to bring more than this one building. It’s going to be all the ancillary things to come, additional specialties,” said Prosper Mayor David Bristol. “So I would say stand by, things are going to get even better.”
For years, hospital systems have raced to keep up with the pace of population growth in the area far north of Dallas. Prosper is perhaps the best example of the region’s success: The town jumped from around 9,400 people in 2010 to more than 34,000 in 2021, according to U.S. Census Bureau data.
But the not-for-profit Children’s Health system set its eyes on the suburbs inching toward the Texas-Oklahoma border long before Prosper’s population, well, prospered.
Children’s Medical Center Plano, opened in 2008, is undergoing a major expansion that will add a 300,000-square-foot, seven-floor tower and expand bed capacity from 72 to 212. Plano, while not growing at the same trajectory as Prosper, still saw population increases in the last decade, growing from nearly 260,000 people in 2010 to over 288,000 in 2021.
The medical centers in Dallas and Plano are the only two hospitals operated by the health system, while the Prosper location will offer urgent care and specialty services, said Children’s Health northern market president Vanessa Walls.
“Those campuses will still be available to take care of those patients as they need higher level care, but we wanted to be able to get more physician office-based services closer to them because that’s where most of that relationship begins,” Walls said.
Specialty Center Prosper’s first floor houses an urgent care that operates outside of traditional office hours and the Andrews Institute for Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine. The third floor includes a number of specialty services, ranging from cardiology to oncology to audiology, while the second floor is set aside as space for expansion in the future.
Plans for the rest of the massive Prosper medical campus look similar to that of the Specialty Center’s second floor.
“We know that we want to be able to grow there to continue to serve that community, but we haven’t put plans together yet for what will be the next step,” Walls said. “We want to hear from the community what they need, what they want and where they want that care provided.”
Children’s Health isn’t only expanding north. The system, along with its joint operating partner UT Southwestern Medical Center, plans to start construction this spring on a clinic in the Red Bird Mall redevelopment in Southwest Dallas. The hospital duo also plans to construct a new pediatric hospital campus where the Bass Center buildings are currently located on UT Southwestern Medical Center’s campus.
Still, as has long been the case, the majority of hospitals in Dallas County are located north of I-30, meaning that health care facilities aren’t where people with the greatest health care needs live, according to data from the county’s latest Community Health Needs Assessment.
“I think you will see that the hospitals are trying to balance that fact that a lot of their growth is north, but a lot of the population movement is north,” said Dallas-Fort Worth Hospital Council president and CEO Steve Love. “I do commend the health systems for the work they’re doing, especially in the southern part of Dallas and even Tarrant County.”
Population growth has been largely concentrated north and east of Dallas rather than south. Celina, located just north of Prosper, saw its population skyrocket from 6,000 in 2010 to nearly 24,000 in 2021, while towns south of Dallas like Duncanville, Cedar Hill and DeSoto saw much more modest growth in the last decade.

Children’s Health had a grand opening ceremony for its Prosper Specialty Center last week, further establishing the nation’s eighth-largest pediatric system in North Texas’ booming northern suburbs.
The new center sits on 75 acres owned by Children’s Health near the border of Collin and Denton counties north of Dallas. The three-story, 30,000-square-foot center sits at the intersection of the Dallas North Tollway and Highway 380 in Prosper. It will include the Children’s Health Andrew’s Institute, a sports medicine-focused program with musculoskeletal, sports medicine, fracture, and concussion care services. There will also be a pediatric clinic with urology, cardiology, pulmonology, general surgery, neurology, gastroenterology, and ENT/audiology care staffed by Children’s Health Medical Group and UT Southwestern Medical Center providers. A Children’s Health PM Pediatric Urgent Care opened at the location in January.
“This new center is an important next chapter in our ongoing promise to the families of North Texas to provide the right care, at the right time, in the right place to make their lives better,’ said Children’s Health CEO Chris Durovich via release.
The specialty center lies about three miles east of Cook Children’s Medical Center Prosper, a 23-bed hospital on 23 acres that opened in 2019. Prosper has become a hotbed of development because of its booming population and wealthy resident. In the last two decades, Prosper has grown from a rural outpost with 2,000 residents to a city with 35,000 people. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the median value of owning a house is $524,700, and the median household income is $159,164. Frisco and Dallas’ median household incomes are $134,210 and $58,231, respectively.
Children’s Health has significantly increased its partnerships and presence in the far northern suburbs over the past few years. In 2019, the nonprofit system paid $2.5 million to sponsor the $53 million, 12,000-seat stadium for Prosper ISD. Earlier this year, it was announced that UT Southwestern and Children’s Health would be jersey sponsors for FC Dallas. Children’s Health opened its second major hospital in Plano in 2008. President of the Northern Market for Children’s Health Vanessa Walls said the expansion was part of a long-term focus on the area. “This expansion allows us to continue to make world-class, comprehensive care available to more children closer to their homes. It addresses their growing medical needs as we strengthen and invest in key clinical programs and branches of academic and community care,” she said via release.
Children’s Health is expanding in other areas of DFW as well. It is currently in the planning stages for a new hospital to replace Children’s Medical Center Dallas. The new hospital would be built in conjunction with UT Southwestern via the two organization’s Joint Pediatric Enterprise. The original solicitation documents describe a $2.5 billion project that would add a labor and delivery unit to the current services offered at the system’s Dallas campus. The new hospital will be built on the north end of the medical center across Harry Hines Boulevard from UTSW’s Clements University Hospital.
The JPE also announced an expansion into the RedBird development in southern Dallas, and according to the Dallas Morning News, is expected to begin construction this spring on the $200 million development. The Children’s Health portion of the medical development, where UTSW and Parkland also have clinics, is reported to cost $22 million and provide 71,700 square feet of space for specialty and primary care in the area.
The center opened to patient care in February but had a grand opening ceremony last week.
