Luxury bed linen retailer Boll & Branch has opened its first standalone store in Texas in Houston’s Highland Village.
Summit, New Jersey-based Boll & Branch leased an 1,868-square-foot space at 3930 Westheimer Road for its newest location. The store opened Aug. 5.
Names of the brokers who negotiated the lease and the companies that worked on the store's renovation were not immediately available.
Boll & Branch targeted Houston for the new store because Texas is one of the company's largest markets, alongside its home state of New Jersey, Audrey Miller, senior vice president of stores for Boll & Branch, said in an email.
The Highland Village location is part of the company’s push to expand from merely being available at Nordstrom and Bloomingdale's stores across the country into stores of its own.
In October, the company plans to open a 3,300-square-foot flagship store in Dallas, Miller said. Additionally, the company is planning another store in Shrewsbury, New Jersey.
Together with the Highland Village location, those two stores will double Boll & Branch’s standalone presence. In all, the company has six standalone stores nationally.
“We are continuing to invest in in-person retail expansion, and we wanted to build on the brand momentum we are gaining in the greater Houston area,” Miller said.
Miller added that Highland Village’s “luxury feel is cohesive with our brand values and dedication to a quality, luxe shopping experience.”
Boll & Branch also wanted to ensure it was represented among other furnishing and retail brands in the area.
While the company plans to continue expanding its retail presence, Miller said there are not plans to open another Houston-area store at this time.
Boll & Branch is known for producing bed linens that are made from organic, long-staple cotton.
Founded in 2014 by CEO Scott Tannen, Boll & Branch primarily operated as an online retailer before forming partnerships with Nordstrom and Bloomingdale’s.
The company is currently bringing in more than $200 million each year, Tannen said in a July interview with ModernRetail.
Part of that momentum has been driven by high-profile fans of the company’s products. Jenna Bush, daughter of former President George W. Bush, is a brand ambassador for Boll & Branch.
Additionally, “I was very lucky that President (Bill) Clinton invited me to meet him because he loved the product so much,” Tannen said in the ModernRetail interview.
Along with Boll & Branch, Highland Village also is home to the only standalone Yeti store in the Houston area.
Yeti Coolers LLC, the popular Austin-based company, opened its first Houston store in the mixed-use development in 2021. The store spans about 3,400 square feet at 4048 Westheimer Road, the site of a former Tommy Bahama store.

Former Texas Longhorns football player Jack Collins Jr. died this week at 82. He was a Hall of Honor member and played halfback on Darrell Royal’s teams from 1959 to 1961.
Collins and his father, Jack Collins Sr., were the first father-son duo inducted into Texas’ Hall of Honor. Collins had significant Dallas ties as he was also a standout football player at Highland Park. In 1957, Collins led Highland Park to an 11-1 record and a Class 4A state tile on 1,473 rushing yards, 600 receiving yards and scored 148 points, according to Texas.
In Highland Park’s 21-9 state final victory over Port Arthur, Collins rushed for 114 yards. In the semifinal prior against Abilene, Collins broke a tie-game with a 58-yard touchdown pass. Abilene was the three-time defending state champions on a 49-game winning streak at the time.
Collins is listed on the Highland Park ISD website as “one of the best athletes ever to play at Highland Park High School.” In 192, Collins was inducted into the Texas High School Football Hall of Fame

Collins earned All-Southwest Conference honors in 1959 as a sophomore at Texas. His Texas teams held a 26-6-1 record in three seasons with the Longhorns and helped Royal build Texas into a college football power. He was on the cover of Dave Campbell’s TEXAS FOOTBALL magazine in 1960.
He had a brief football career with the Pittsburgh Steelers and Dallas Cowboys before a career as a banking official.

A flyer in the bookstore window at The Shops at Highland Village stated the store will move to The Highlands of Flower Mound, 6101 Long Prairie Road. The current location is at 4100 Deer Creek, Ste. 100. The store is slated to close June 18, according to store employees.
“The new bookstore will be built in the space formerly occupied by Pier 1, directly to the left of Market by Macy’s, and is planned to open this fall,” the flyer stated.
The flyer said the new store will be in “entirely remodeled space, featuring our updated store design, including both new furnishings and layouts.” Store officials also promise better parking at the next location, according to the brochure.
A Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation filing shows a Cheesecake Factory plans to move into the Highland Village space.
“Barnes & Noble has been a great tenant and community partner for many years, and we wish them all the best in their new location," said Ravi Wadhwa, senior general manager of The Shops at Highland Village, in an email. “In addition to the recent announcements regarding Lovesac, Cheeky Monkey and Sleep Number joining our dynamic tenant lineup, The Shops at Highland Village management expects to have more exciting news in the near future.”

Highland Park Village has signed on four new designer shops with plans to open this summer and fall.
Three of them will be opening their first standalone shops in Texas, said Stephen Summers, whose family co-owns Highland Park Village with the Washburne family.
French designer brand Balmain isn’t one of those, but it will be the first boutique for the brand in Dallas. Balmain has a store in the Houston Galleria and will open in Highland Park Village this fall.
Dallas customers are familiar with the brand. Balmain just ended a popup with an exclusive 1920s-inspired sportswear collection for Neiman Marcus at the Dallas-based retailer’s NorthPark Center store. Last year, the brand created another exclusive collection, Balmain x Barbie, for Neiman Marcus.

“Dallas is an incredibly important market for Balmain,” said Emily George, president of the brand’s Americas business. She added Dallas is home to many longtime top customers and new ones.
Los Angeles-based fashion line Simkhai will open this summer. The brand has had a popup in Highland Park Village’s Market boutique over the past year. Market houses a selection of designers ranging from global fashion houses to up-and-coming designers and those brands can end up in their own stores.
Italian bespoke brand Brioni, founded in Rome and part of the Kering Group, makes apparel, leather goods, shoes and accessories. It will open this summer.
Loewe, one of the oldest fashion houses founded in Spain 177 years ago, will open this fall. The brand has recently gone through a rejuvenation. This shop will sell women’s apparel, bags, small leather goods, accessories, shoes, belts, sunglasses, and sterling silver jewelry.
Highland Park Village has 60 stores and restaurants including its newest store, Moncler, which opened in March.
Dallas continues to attract luxury brand shops. Highland Park Village and NorthPark have both been attracting their share of them. Prada just confirmed it’s planning a store at NorthPark.

The popular Pan-Asian restaurant chain Pei Wei closed its Highland Village location last week, but it plans to reopen in Flower Mound later this year.
A sign on the closed storefront in Highland Village, 3090 Justin Road, says the restaurant is relocating to 4640 Long Prairie Road, Suite 300, which is in a new small shopping center just north of Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital in Flower Mound.
Pei Wei is planning to open the new Flower Mound location this summer, according to the sign in front of the business. Until then, the closest Pei Wei to the Flower Mound area is located in Castle Hills, 4600 Hwy 121.
I am writing in response to Denton County Commissioner Dianne Edmondson’s “Letter to the Editor” dated April 27, 2023, in which she made several unfounded and malicious personal attacks on me and Council Member Ron Schmidt. It is deeply disappointing to see an elected official engage in such uninformed and divisive behavior, especially given the role that Ms. Edmondson holds in our community.
Ms. Edmondson mentioned Council Member Schmidt’s lawsuit from 4 years ago but failed to mention the reason for the lawsuit: Mr. Schmidt’s constitutional rights were violated. The same rights that you and I enjoy today, and that Mr. Schmidt spent over 30 years in the U.S. Army fighting to protect. Moreover, Mr. Schmidt won the lawsuit, and the Town of Argyle acknowledged that suspending Mr. Schmidt was improper.
She also fails to mention Council Member Bryan Livingston moved to repeal Argyle’s Code of Ethics, the basis of the improper sanctions, at the Town Council meeting on Jan. 21, 2020, and it passed by a unanimous vote. Mr. Livingston stated, “This is a redundant ordinance, and repealing this ordinance puts us in conformance with other towns across Texas. The general law provisions of the Texas code provide for more than adequate protection against ethics issues on the part of officials and staff of the town.”
These facts completely undermine Ms. Edmondson’s baseless attack against Council Member Schmidt, and it is unfortunate that she chose to omit them from her letter.
Furthermore, Ms. Edmondson’s claims about the Oncor discussions are also untrue. No one is attempting to “wrest control” away from Mayor Livingston. As the incoming Mayor of Argyle, I have asked multiple times to be included in Oncor discussions for over a month to ensure continuity, a smooth transition, and to continue representing the best interests of Argyle citizens. There’s still a lot of work to be done, and the outcome won’t be decided until well into my term. Yet Mr. Livingston has flat out refused to cooperate in any manner and has been vocal in actively opposing my involvement. So much so, he took out his frustration on Argyle’s Town Administrator when she disagreed with him and demanded the Town attorney file a charge of insubordination!
My request to be involved in discussions is perfectly reasonable and a widely practiced professional courtesy. It is unfortunate that Ms. Edmondson chose to misrepresent the situation in her letter without any first-hand knowledge and without even the common courtesy of asking.
Lastly, Ms. Edmondson’s claim that the “Argyle Council has gone rogue,” is also without basis, as the vast majority of Council votes have been 5-0, clearly working together during Mr. Livingston’s term. To suggest that one or two members of Town Council control the meetings is ludicrous and insulting to the other members.
What is most troubling about Ms. Edmondson’s letter, however, is that she did not even bother to speak with me or Council Member Schmidt before publishing her politically-motivated attack. It is disappointing to see an elected official engage in such dishonest and divisive behavior, and it raises questions about her motives and interests in interfering in Argyle’s local elections.
As citizens and elected officials, we must hold ourselves to a higher standard. It is our responsibility to engage in civil and respectful discourse, even when we disagree with one another. Ms. Edmondson’s letter was a clear violation of this responsibility, and it is my hope that she will reconsider her approach to public discourse in the future.
For the benefit of the Citizens of Argyle, I look forward to working with Denton County and our neighboring municipalities. Argyle first, politics last.
